Most of the rain falls in September, and a few isolated showers in October. The humidity is low, and most visitors describe the climate as very pleasant. Temperature is from 25-31 degrees, with the warmest period being from July to October. A gentle breeze is normally present, and combined with low humidity, its an almost ideal setting. As a result, buying investment property in Cape Verde is becoming more and more popular. The islands are not affected by tropical storms or hurricanes, despite that many tropical storms are created around the islands.

Cape Verde is a safe country without any terrorist organisations. The rule of law is acknowledged just like in Europe. Nevertheless, you should not be naïve as a traveller because minor thefts are prevalent in the larger cities and on highly frequented beaches since the establishment of tourism. In particular, you should be careful in Praia on Santiago, especially at night. Another place to act with caution is in Mindelo on São Vicente. It’s sad to note that street children are hired to steal and there are occasional robberies (mostly at night) here. Please take precautions, especially on the path to the Santa Monica beach.
When visiting the above-mentioned locations, do not show off your wealth. Leave your passport and larger amounts of money in the hotel safe.
The culture of Cape Verde is characterised by a mixture of European and African elements. This is not a sum of two cultures living side by side, but a new culture resulting from an exchange that began in the 15th century. The Cape Verdean case may be situated in the common context of African nations, in which elites, who questioned European racial and cultural superiority and who in some cases undertook a long armed struggle against European imperialism and national liberation, use the rule of Western codes as the main instrument of internal domination. Cape Verdean social and cultural patterns are similar to those of rural Portugal. Football games and church activities are typical sources of social interaction and entertainment. The traditional walk around the praça (town square) to meet friends is practiced regularly in Cape Verde towns.
